The secret of a good fit

Like jelly in a mould, immature feet can take on whatever shape they're forced into, so shoe shapes should always match the form of the foot. In toddlers this is wide at the toe and narrow at the heel, a shape that will change as the foot develops.
▪ The inside edge of a good fitted shoe is straight, to avoid pressure on the big toe
▪ The width and depth of a correctly fitted Start-rite shoe ensures excess pressure is never applied
▪ The built-in space allowance around the toes is greater in Start-rite shoes than in other brands
Children should have their feet measured at least twice a year by a trained assistant to ensure the continued healthy development of their feet.

A straightforward guide to buying shoes for your children
Always have both feet measured for length and width. The assistant
should be a trained shoe fitter and understand the importance of
measuring your childs feet.
Avoid slip on shoes. Shoes should be held on the foot with laces,
straps or Velcro fastenings.
Heel height should be no more than 4cm. Lower for very young children.
The heel should have a broad base.
Natural materials are always best. Leather for shoes, be it suede or
patent leather and natural rubber, not PVC for Wellies.
The shoes should fit exactly around the heel.
You can contact Saint George directly if you would like to arrange a fitting session for your children or a group of friends children. Please see the buy direct link at the top of the page
